How do you sell something nobody knows they need?

Sini Downing has spent nearly twenty years in voiceover production for the games industry. If you’ve heard a character speak in a game you’ve played recently, there’s a good chance Sini helped make it happen. Her credits include The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Final Fantasy XVI, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, among many others.

Going solo as a VO production consultant meant starting from scratch. No studio, no facility, no physical product. Just two decades of expertise that needed translating into a brand and a website for a role that barely exists.

There are very few independent VO production consultants in the games industry, which meant very few models to look at for how to message, how to position, or how to explain services to clients who might not even know they need them.

“I’m providing services that my ideal client probably has never used before. So I not only have to explain what they are, but explain this to people who may not even know what they need. And it has to work for people speaking English as a second language as well.”

Sini spoke to three agencies. One had lovely work but limited experience. Another was very sales-focused. Vu stood out for a different reason, the values on the website felt right. And for someone coming from a position of positive leadership who wanted to make her industry better, that alignment was important.

“I was looking for someone I’m going to feel comfortable working with. You guys have a really friendly vibe. Your values are right there in front as well.”

What We Did

  • Audience definition and representative client personas
  • Brand strategy workshops and visual identity
  • Website design and development
  • Content structure aimed at an international audience
  • WordPress Web design and development

Deeper than colours and fonts

The process went further than Sini expected. She’d anticipated conversations about colours and fonts. What she got was a structured exploration of who her clients were, what they needed, and how Alt-Take should position itself in a market with almost no precedent.

“It went way deeper than I expected. It really made me face more of what I was creating as a company. And it proved that I did know who I wanted to work with.”

The brand went through three iterations. The first round explored a retro gaming aesthetic that wasn’t right for Sini’s vision. She sent back clear feedback. The team responded quickly, and within two more rounds, the direction had settled.

Sini found herself more decisive than she expected, and the online Miro board workshop process made it easy to interact, compare options and commit choices.

“I really enjoyed going through those links. It was interesting just how quickly I was able to make decisions in terms of what felt right.”

One element of the project required particular care. Sini’s industry is one where AI is a genuine threat to livelihoods. While she was comfortable with AI being used to support the creative process, she drew a clear line at anything AI-generated appearing on the finished website. Vu respected that boundary, and the conversation around it was handled openly.

“We all have to find our comfort level with how much AI we’re going to use. It was helpful that there was space to say, this is where I’m comfortable, and this cannot happen.”

The result was a website that breaks down three complex service areas into clear, navigable pieces for an audience that might arrive knowing very little about VO production, in multiple languages, and need to find the one heading that sounds like what they were told to go looking for.

Presenting the expert she already is

A brand and website for a new VO production consultancy, giving Alt-Take the credibility and clarity to stand alongside two decades of industry experience.

For a one-person business built entirely on knowledge and reputation, the Alt-Take website needed to instantly translate credibility and experience.

The feedback has been immediate. People comment on how established and professional the site looks. For someone launching their first ever company after twenty years behind the scenes on some of the biggest games in the world, that backing was important.

“I’d looked at others who had gone off and done their own thing, and it made me realise how important it was to have a website that properly explains what I do and how I can help. Having everything well structured now just feels so much better. It gives me confidence that everything is covered and people can quickly understand the different ways I can support them.”

“You can do good yourself. But a professional can do great. It’s just taking it up to that next level. It’s using experts to do what they’re good at.”
