How do the right people find us and act?

Not sure which you need? Most projects start in one and end up touching all four. Tell us the problem and we'll point you at the right place.

Questions people ask before they hire us.

If yours isn't here, send it with your enquiry and we'll answer it properly.

Cost

How much does a website cost?

Most of our website projects fall between £5,000 and £25,000. Larger builds with integrations, migrations or several stakeholders go beyond that.

The price depends on how many page types you need, how much strategy and content work comes with it, and whether you need integrations. We give you a fixed quote before anything starts.

Why do you ask for a budget?

Because the same brief can be done well at very different levels. Knowing your range means we suggest the scope that gets you the most for it, instead of writing a proposal you can’t use.

A range is fine, and “not sure yet” is an honest answer too.

Can you do smaller pieces of work?

Yes. Audits, workshops, a landing page or a fix to an existing site all cost less than a full project. They’re often the best way to start working together.

What does it cost to keep a site running?

Hosting and care plans start from £40 a month. That covers updates, backups, security monitoring, performance checks and access to our support desk. A person checks your site after every update.

The free first look

What is the free first look?

We read your website the way a new customer would: your key pages, your visual identity, how you sound and who you compete with. You get a short summary of what stands out, with one finding explained in full.

If you want the rest, we walk you through the full audit on a short call.

Is it really free?

Yes. There’s no charge and no obligation to hire us afterwards.

Why do I need to use my work email?

We only send first looks to people at the organisation whose website it is. Your email domain needs to match your website, so a Gmail or Hotmail address won’t work.

If your email and website use different domains, an NHS trust for example, we’ll check it by hand.

How long does it take?

Within one working day. Our analysis does the first read, then someone on the team checks it and corrects anything it got wrong before it reaches you.

Can I get a first look at a competitor's site?

No. First looks are for your own organisation’s website.

Who we work with

Who do you usually work with?

Organisations with a team behind them, usually between 10 and 250 people, that care about how they do business as well as what they sell. Charities, public sector bodies and universities of any size.

We’ve worked with the Department of Health and Social Care, the NHS, the National Audit Office and two universities, as well as independent businesses across Devon and Cornwall.

Do I have to be a B Corp or a charity?

No. We work with businesses in most sectors. We’ll encourage you to think about your social and environmental impact, but it isn’t a condition of working with us.

Is there anyone you won't work with?

We’ve signed the Clean Creatives pledge, so we don’t take on work for fossil fuel companies or the groups that promote them. A few other sectors we look at case by case.

More on who we work with

Where are you based?

We have offices in Devon and Cornwall, in Exeter and Bude. Most of our clients are between Bristol and Cornwall, and we work with organisations across the UK remotely.

How we work

What happens after I hit Hire us?

You’ll get an email asking you to confirm your address. Once you do, we reply within one working day, usually with a time for a call. If you asked for a first look, it comes with that reply.

After the call we send a proposal with a fixed price and a timeline.

How much experience does the team have?

Vu has been running for over 15 years, and the team brings more than 30 years in print, design and digital. Three directors look after technology, commercial and creative.

What do you build websites with?

We pick the tool for the problem. Most of our sites are built on WordPress because clients can run them easily, and they’re hosted on servers powered by renewable energy.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the scope, how ready your content is and how many people need to sign things off. You’ll get a timeline with the proposal, and we’ll hold to it.

Let's make a start.
